There are a whole '78 Dodge trunkload of pictures on here, and some are big,
so be patient.
It'll be worth your wait ~ there are a bunch of new old pics up now and more to
come!
Keep in mind these are all past builds and that specs & equipment have
changed over the years.

Texas Pecan
All the Pecan Birdsong built with was from a stash my late mentor "Uncle
Johnny" Kirtland scored locally,
a tree that had been milled & stored for years. I hauled the rest of it home
from his workshop after he died.
Then I hauled the workshop home and rebuilt it and that's where Birdsongs are
finished & assembled, but
that's another story for another time. The Pecan is gone, and I won't be
getting more ~ so as to keep the
Pecan and Johnny connection a part of Birdsong history. All the Pecan that
has ever been in a Birdsong
passed through his hands. I have pieces left for stringers, etc. but no
tops, wings or whole bodies (see pic).

Words
| "It's amazing - ever meet someone whom you feel like you've known all your life? That's how I am with this beautiful bass. Probably because since 1965, I've imagined what it would be like to hold and play an instrument that felt so much like a part of me - something so responsive - so natural feeling in my hands - like an extension of my body. It's helping me become a better player because it's not in the way - not a hindrance. It becomes part of the creative process." |
