One-off "Scott's Special" 28" scale single pickup fretless, blackwashed poplar, getting chrome hardware & the "Scott" signature on the headstock. 31 “frets” worth of rosewood to play on with full access. The body’s been on the shelves for probably 13 years, just waiting to build into this. A nifty little oddity from the workshop that you won't even find another of in a room full of Birdsongs!
Made a couple of Birdsong PB models (the Birdsong-ized EB-flavored version) as two pickup "PB3" special orders and figured I'd toss another in for inventory while making those two. This one is super lightweight Spanish cedar and it's ready for sanding & buildout the way YOU want it. So let me know! $2400 plus options.
A number of years back we were granted by destiny the chance to meld in a little bit of what we know that makes our short scale basses really work into areas the old SD Curlee basses maybe didn't so well. The greatest blend yet of original SD Curlee looks, tone & vibe with Birdsong handling, playability & build quality are the Standard76 and 78s. This Texas pecan centered mahogany blank could go either way, with a great maple neck, and set you back around $1600.
This one will be a treat for the eyes of the more granola-oriented among you with its beautiful natual knotty alder wings and Texas pecan center. Planning on a maple neck & board and trimming this standard Birdsong Cortobass out in rosewood for beautiful woody contrast and setting it all off with black hardware. It'll run you $2450 with case & shipping.
Here’s an oddball, a Birdsong “GS” model bass made from a blank that’s been here for years. This one (maybe the 2nd or 3rd?) is getting a single soapbar, black hardware, and some ornate, carved ebony front plates to artistically cover some issues in the purpleheart top. There’s cherry ‘round back, some ash, bocote… nothing lightweight but all beautiful. AND an ebony-board fretless neck from the same time frame; it was a test-fit neck in the shop, and we don’t do ebony boards these days so this’ll be a rare bird! Will sustain for days. Somewhere shy of 9 pounds total and $2500-$2600 with shipping, we’ll see how crazy I get with the ebony.
