“Scott’s Special” Shortbass
Will have rosewood fretboard & chrome hardware
$1350 w/case & cont. USA shipping
The ergonomics & tone of Birdsong simmered down to its simplest, single pickup form. The neck of a Birdsong, the neck pickup of the Cortobass. Haven’t been able to get a batch of these going for this year, this may be the only one! One pickup, but certainly not “one trick” - very versatile. Hand signed headstock… simplicity done right. Rounds or flats?
Spanish cedar & poplar
Oh somewhere around $2000
Unless some unusual soul wants this as is in all its half & half glory, it’s written up to become a “Rat Rod” hot rod themed build, painted and done up in tribute to my car - Sarge the Road Runner! Not that it wouldn’t take a real character to want THAT, it’s just a different kind of nutty. Either way, I salute you - because I’m the nutty one thinking this stuff up and making it happen! (Why is it half & half? Leftover board cutoffs get to sing too!)
And while we’re at it, here’s #19C-389 in poplar - it’s the same but going to be done up like my 1960 Pontiac!
Birdsong Cortobass or Corto2
Mystery wood wings, mahogany center
Somewhere around $2500-$2600
A natural wood lover’s special with striking grain and secured cracks & character. Probably pecan, definitely pretty local. Will look great - rear routed, probably set off by black hardware.
Here’s an odd one - a thick, curvy prototype body from the early days of the company! Can put just about any of our pickup setups in here - whaddaya want it to be? It’ll definitely be unique! Alder, 3-pc., we’ll just price it like the standard model you have us equip it like.
”Corto1” single pickup
Rosewood or maple board - your choice
Walnut butcher block!
Chrome, black or gold hardware - all look great on walnut!
Front or rear rout
$1950 to $2300 or so…
Going to do a Corto1 with a humbucker in the middle - just a great, all around, simple bass.
Hemlock body - super lightweight
Rosewood board, chrome hardware
Vintage tortoise control plate
