After doing so much for the short-scalers among us, it occurred
to us that there may be a few of you out there who have the opposite
problem - you're bigger bodied than "average", and normal
guitars feel & look small on you. They don't fit your body and they
don't fill your hands. And you don't want a 335, and the big companies
have paid about as much attention to your needs as they have to we
smaller folks.
I feel your pain, just the opposite. Nothing's ever been sized for me
either, and if it has been it's been done half-assed.
What you need is a solid body designed for a plus size frame...
Well here you go! We'll be building a small
number of these XL guitars this year for you. Who'd have thought it'd
take a little guy to figure this one out?!
XLarge NECK - XLarge BODY -
XLarge TONE
These are hand built in our Texas workshop with all the love & mojo
we're known for. More details to come, and they'll appear in inventory as they become available.
Builds #001 and #002 are prototypes, a Walnut & Zircote,
Mahogany-necked 12-string and the Poplar bodied 6-string I'm holding.
Stay tuned, this could be exciting...
(Info on pricing to come as it gets closer to completion
- the Ziricote 12 is for a client, but the Poplar may be available.)

Look way too big & long on me? Good - I'm 5'4"!
Latest shot of the Poplar prototype, #2:

The pickguard template will be replaced by an actual "vintage
tortoise" pickguard... Prototype #1 is rear routed.

The Tulip Bass!
What in the name of all that's holy is this, you
ask? Well it's tiny, cute as all get-out, and the story is this: I cut 2
Walnut Cortobass wings out to glue up with a wide center section, and
laid them together on the bench. Something caught my eye about the
slender little shape, and before you know it (with a little artistic
embellishment of Mahogany, Ebony & Bloodwood) it was glued up. A
little single pickup fretless it shall be... think of it as a
"chopped, channeled & sectioned" Cortobass. If you're an
old-school Hot Rodder. For the rest of you, think of it as... well,
something else.
(Info on pricing to come as it gets closer to
completion.)
