Birdsong Guitars thank you page.

The greatest gift is to share knowledge and shine some sunlight on another's seed... we wish to thank the following people, without whom Birdsong would not be happening.

FIRST: All those who believed, our clients, who in fine form displayed the dying art of "putting one's money where one's mouth is" and took us up on our offer to build a truly world class, well designed short scale bass instead of just joining the lemming chorus of how it couldn't be done, just go buy a P bass, etc... We can't thank you all enough; it goes way beyond the transaction and the wood & wire... thank you for the opportunity to be of service to music and your life's path.

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
Margaret Litz (whoever you were & wherever you are ~ inspiration & confirmation)
Ross Jennings (wisdom - the Sadhu of solder!) Expert guitar repair in San Marcos, TX:  512.396.0164
Millard Ellingsworth (suggestions & belief in us ~ 1st Cortobass sale!)
J. Kinscherff, luthier (the example & the wood)
Tina and Can-Do Designs (web hosting)
Art Porter at Hipshot ("No longer with the company"~ best of luck, man!)
Ben Bernales (belief beyond belief!)
Uncle Johnny Kirtland (backwoods wood guru - RIP Jan. 11 2007) His memorial pages are here.
Dax Verleye. One of us, definitely.
The Whatever Tribe
George Walker (local furniture shop owner RIP Dec. 30, 2007) Generosity with his shop planer & sander helped us out a bunch early on.
Chris Leonard - George's son who planed & sanded all our early blanks.

And, of course, all visitors to the site, all those who wrote & inspired... and a BIG thanks to those who tried to pee away our rainbow early on... thank you most of all ~ when the hours are long and the pay is short, I reflect on your sqwalking and remember why I
really do this and why I will keep doing this. Thank you for honing my vision & will to a fine and effective edge. ~Scott

ALSO - MAJOR THANKS TO SHOP HELP PAST!

THOM BLYTHE... The Thommeister.
Tommy departed Birdsong for art college in San Francisco. He worked with us for a year and a half, our first real shop help. We miss him and wish him all the best! How can you not miss a guy that comes to work on Halloween dressed like you?! Thanks for helping us out and know you can always count on us as a reference. Godspeed brother.

Thanks & love to LYZZBOT... Little Sister of Birdsong - thanks for your devotion & friendship. Basses you helped build will be out there playing the rest of our lives & beyond. Like, that's sooo cool. :)

Wes Ardis

Wes was singer / songwriter / guitarist and a founding member of Christian rockers How Ironic, touring the country & releasing 2 CDs before he was 18. Then onto other things... including helping us out here! I've known Wes since he was "Spiky-headed boy." Can get tones out of a guitar that'll peel paint, and deliver a song that'll make your eyes fill up. Sometimes at the same time!

Wes is a solid guy and a true brother. He's married now, living in the big city of Austin, playing guitar & Wessing...

WYATT ELLIS... wybye.jpg (156649 bytes) Wyatt cuts his last body before attaining enlightenment.
What can be said about a guy that designed & built his own bass at 14, goes to listen to the Dalai Lama speak, loves jazz, plays everything from acoustic gypsy swing guitar to brutal electric free jazz & solo bass, lives and breathes music, lays down the funk, and solders like he's been doing it for decades? You don't. He's a gift from the universe. Scott's extra pair of hands and an amazingly gifted & focused old soul.

Has no patience for boring music and has listened to Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" all the way through at least once that I know of.

Wyatt has moved into the city of Austin to be, live and play.

Wy rocking out 110% with the band Goodnight Goddess. Look 'em up on MySpace & definitely keep an eye on them. This pictured was not staged ~ this is how it's done.
