Our story started with a personal quest for a pro quality short scale bass with big tone and perfect balance, preferably made in the USA. I couldn't find it, so I built it; the Cortobass... and it built Birdsong.



A Birdsong is small, lightweight, and easy playing yet they sound huge. How? They were designed to be a great bass first. Not a cheap import or reissue, but a great working musical tool ready for stage or studio. (Then we made it look good.)  



From mild to wild... from the Cortobass to the exotic example of our Hy5 model 5-string pictured below, every one is built in our Texas USA workshop... from our hands to yours. 



Dedicated students, smaller players, or anyone looking for something easier to play but built up to a standard (not down to a price), welcome home! We'd love to make one for you.
